My journey to becoming a celebrant
Hello, I’m Haley. I’m a Life Story Celebrant, working with families to create personal, meaningful ceremonies that honour and reflect the life of someone they love.
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent many years as a writing teacher. Throughout that time, I developed a deep appreciation for the power of words—how they can capture a life, hold memories and bring comfort when it’s needed most. Listening carefully, shaping stories, and finding the right tone have always been at the heart of what I do.
A gentle and personal approach
Planning a funeral can feel overwhelming, especially at a time of loss. My role is to make things feel a little gentler. I will take time to sit with you, listen to your memories and learn about the person behind the ceremony—their character, their quirks, the moments that mattered and the stories that deserve to be told.
From there, I carefully write a ceremony that feels true to them and right for you. Whether you would like something traditional and understated, or more personal and reflective, I will guide you through each step with care and sensitivity. No two lives are the same and no two ceremonies should be either. It is always a privilege to be trusted with someone’s story. My aim is to create a ceremony that not only honours a life, but brings comfort and a sense of meaning to those who are saying goodbye.
Preserving memories, creating meaning
Our lives are like footprints in the sand, each step a quiet mark of love, kindness, and presence. Though the tide of time eventually smooths the shore, the meaning of those footprints never disappears. They live on in the people who walked beside us, in the paths we helped shape, and in the memories that guide those who remain.
To be remembered is not to resist the tide, but to know that our steps mattered — that we left behind direction, warmth and courage for others to follow long after the sand has been made new again.
As a life story celebrant, I use skilled storytelling, careful listening and thoughtful writing to capture those footprints with clarity and depth, crafting a tribute that powerfully reflects a life lived and ensures their story is preserved, honoured and remembered.
